My Story

Pax et bonum.

I am Frank DeGeorge and I founded Simon of the Cross Ministry (SoC) in 2012 in Morgantown West Virginia.

My passion is with high school youth ministry, especially encounter retreats where young people come alive in their faith by encountering the risen Christ and experience the presence of the Holy Spirit.  However, after 12 years of youth ministry, I came to the conclusion that perhaps the best thing that I could do for our young people was to educate their parents about our faith.

The Christian faith is simple, yet terribly complex and requiring of an adult mind.  While junior and senior high school students are very capable of beginning the adult faith journey, it is just that, the beginning of a journey that will remain with us through the rest of our adult lives.

The Catholic deposit of faith is presented in its' entirety, in the Sacred Scriptures and the Catechism of the Catholic Church.  To that end, SoC provides, completely free of charge, the New American Bible (St. Joseph's Edition) and the Catechism of the Catholic Church, to anyone interested in investigating the faith.  Accordingly, SoC is dependent on benefactors and supporters such as you, to help maintain inventories and to cover costs associated with the ministry.  SoC does not receive fees from parishes or churches sponsoring missions, nor does SoC provide compensation to those who provide services on behalf of the ministry.  Your prayers and financial support are greatly appreciated.
